"We at Icelandic Mountain Guides are happy to inform you that we have reopened our base in Skaftafell after this (thankfully) short eruption. A team of our guides is there, cleaning is going well and we are ready to receive travelers who want to come for a glacier or mountain adventure!

Even though the environment on the glacier is unusual at the moment traveling on its surface opses no problem and in fact it is a very special place to visit under these circumstances, the surface more black than white. More information on the eruption and our operation is available on our web site mountainguides.is

So do tell everyone that Skaftafell is now as always a wonderful place to visit when traveling around Iceland
